Good to know

If the Round or Dotted vatki makes your feet tickle, this is the one to use instead. Flat, smooth-edged bronze, made for sensitive feet. No lines, no dots — just flat bronze, for anyone who finds the other vatis too much.

Benefits

  • Warm bronze on tired feet

The vati warms as it moves against the skin. That warmth, and the weight of the metal, is what most people describe first when they tell us what it is like.

  • The gentlest surface we make

A flat top, no lines and no dots. Customers whose feet tickle with the round or dotted vati tell us they can sit through the full ten minutes with this one.

  • The same bronze, the same practice

Kansya, bronze cast from copper and tin, has been used in Ayurvedic padabhyanga for generations. The surface is different; the metal and the movement are not.

  • Real Kansya, not a lookalike

Cast in our own Dighi workshop. We are a certified manufacturer of Kansa massagers. The metal is the whole point, and the easiest thing for a cheap copy to get wrong.

How to use it

Fit the vati onto the machine and switch it on. Rub a spoonful of oil into the sole of your foot. The oil is what lets the bronze glide instead of drag.

Coconut oil suits most people. Some tell us sesame oil is better for them, others desi cow ghee. Try a few and keep the one that feels right on your skin.

Sit back in a chair and rest your foot on the vati. Let the weight of your leg do the work. Do not press down. Move slowly over the whole sole — heel, arch, ball of the foot, then the toes. About five minutes on each foot is plenty.

This vati is for the feet. It has a defined edge, so do not use it on the face — the face vati is the smooth one, made for that.

Keep it to about ten minutes a foot. If anything feels uncomfortable, stop. And if you are pregnant, recovering from surgery, or under a doctor's care for anything, ask your doctor before you start.

Care and cleaning

Wipe the vati with a soft dry cloth when you finish, and store it dry.

Bronze darkens with use and oil. That is normal and does not affect it. It may also leave a grey tint on the skin — that is oxidation, and it wipes off. Never put the vati in water for long or leave it wet.
